June 16th – 4PM- Come to Nippersink Forest Preserve on Route 120 in Round Lake is just west of Cedar Lake Road and east of Fairfield Road to fish. It’s a FREE FISHING DAY ( no license required). We’ll have the equipment you’ll need to try fishing or you can bring your own equipment. Don’t want to fish – bring a lawn chair, your sandwich and we’ll supply the soda, water, and good company too.
June 30th, Friday at 5PM – Rent a canoe or kayak to explore the Skokie Lagoons with us. We’re planning on two hour ride through the lagoons. The Lagoons are located off Tower Road west of Forest Way between Glencoe and Winnetka. The cost is $20 per hour for canoes & tandem kayaks.
Band Concerts – Tuesday evenings, 7:30pm at the Stiner Pavilion Festival Grounds, 201 Seahorse Drive, Waukegan Lakefront (Harbor next to water plant). Bring a lawn chair, picnic basket, and friends to enjoy the music. Tuesday: June 13th “Set Sail for Summer;” June 27th “American Masters.”
Independence Grove Forest Preserve – June 20th Black Masala – Brass Dance Sound. A high energy brass band from Washington, D.C. that will result in a dance party that leaves concert goers smiling. Concert starts at 7:30PM. If you arrive after 5PM you will have to pay a $6 parking fee.
Ravinia – Wednesday, July 12th – Joshua Bell with the CSO at 8PM. Gates open 5PM and we’ll meet on the lawn (lawn tickets cost $10) between 6-6:30 to eat (bring your own food and drink) and chat. Our banner will be up so we should be easy to find.
